Possum Haw Branch
Grandpa James Sinclair Allen lived in the Dorr Creek area of Nacogdoches County, Texas. He signed some of his columns "Jim Allen, Possum Haw Branch".
There was a creek near his home which was called "Possum Haw Branch" because of all the Possum Haw trees growing along it. Another name for Possum Haw is Christmas Holly because it has beautiful red berries in the winter.
